Krypton, the popular Syfy show inspired by characters appearing in the Superman mythos, is officially getting a second season. The first season concludes Wednesday, May 23 at 10/9c. SYFY announced the news today, a day before the first season’s anticipated finale.

Krypton centers around Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, who finds himself fighting to save his family’s reputation and guarantee a brighter tomorrow for future generations. The series takes place 200 years before the birth of Superman and dives deeper into the planet’s history.

The series stars Cameron Cuffe, Elliot Cowan, Georgina Campbell, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Ian McElhinney, Aaron Pierre, and Shaun Sipos. David S. Goyer executive produces while Cameron Welsh (Ash Vs. Evil Dead) assumes showrunning duties.
