Though Telltale Games received a lot of critical praise for their video game adaptation of Bill Willingham’s gritty comic book series Fables, word on the street of a sequel season to the episodic adventure title has been pretty quiet.
Interestingly, until now, the second season of The Wolf Among Us held a placeholder late-2018 release window. However, the US-based company has recently come forward and confirmed that the sequel season to Bigby Wolf’s hard-boiled noir escapades will now release in 2019.
Here’s the rundown from Telltale Games’ official website:
“This delay comes as the result of a few fundamental changes here at Telltale since we first announced the game last summer. Most importantly, we’re committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special. Ultimately our goal is to deliver an experience deserving of the passion you’ve consistently shown for The Wolf Among Us, and these extra months will give us the time we need to do our best work. We’re extremely enthusiastic about how the game is progressing so far, and we can’t wait to dig even deeper.”
If you’re anything like us and have been waiting patiently for the second part to Bigby Wolf’s strange and bizarre murder mystery gumshoe adventures, then this news may come as a bit of a disappointment. That being said, it does sound like Telltale Games are using this extra time to help improve and polish the experience for its launch in 2019.
Not only that, but moving the episodic game’s release further out from the hugely anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, amongst others, may be wise, considering how successful those games are likely to be when it comes to sales and marketing clout.
Stay tuned, as we’ll be sure to let you know as more information comes to light as we approach The Wolf Among Us 2‘s launch.
