One of the more notable PS4 exclusives to be in development at the moment is the post-apocalyptic action-adventure, Days Gone, by the folks over at Sony Bend. The US-based team’s last title was a launch game on the PS Vita way back in 2012 – Uncharted: Golden Abyss. This means that the studio has been pretty much dormant for nearly six years.

Luckily for us, a concrete release date has dropped today for the hotly anticipated third-person horror game. Days Gone will be the studio’s first foray on PS4 hardware and is set to launch on the 22nd of February, 2019.  You can check out the game’s full trailer below:

Set in a bleak open-world that has been ravaged by mindless zombie-like monsters, referred to in-game as “freakers,” Days Gone follows central protagonist Deacon St. John, a former outlaw turned drifter. Interestingly, the game incorporates some pretty neat gameplay mechanics into the mix, like dynamic icy weather patterns that actually make the freakers even stronger adversaries, and even day/night cycles, too.

Furthermore, the game’s objectives can even be completed in a variety of different ways. Obviously, vehicles will also play a pronounced role in how you traverse the title’s gigantic open-world. And finally, crafting will be an important mechanic to help you survive the grim, dangerous reality that is filled to the brim with grotesque monsters that really want to see you pushing up the daisies.

Many people have commented on how the game looks aesthetically similar to another PS4 exclusive, The Last Of Us. If it’s anything near as great as Naughty Dog’s masterpiece, Sony could well be onto another winner with Days Gone.

Days Gone launches exclusively for PS4 on the 22nd of February, 2019.
