Deadline brings word that Spider-Man: Far From Home has added Curb Your Enthusiasm actor J.B. Smoove to its stacked cast. The heavily-hyped sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming stars returning cast members Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Michael Keaton. New cast members include Jake Gyllenhaal as the villainous Mysterio and now Smoove, whose role has not been revealed. Jon Watts returns to direct while Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna will once again write the script.
Far from Home takes place after Avengers 4 and will follow Peter Parker (Holland) as he travels to London. Not much is known beyond that, but you can bet updates will start trickling in as the film inches closer to its release date.
Smoove is best known for playing Leon in Larry David’s acclaimed series Curb Your Enthusiasm, but he has also appeared in films such as The Smurfs 2, Top Five, and Uncle Drew. He was featured on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee in 2016.
It will be interesting to see how Smoove’s character will fit into the Far From Home story. The franchise has hired comedic actors before, Hannibal Burress being one of them.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will arrive in theaters on July 5, 2019. Until then, keep checking back for updates on the film!
