John Wick owed its success to three aspects of its production: intricate mythology, pulse-pumping action, and Keanu Reeves. The three blended together into this beautiful, bloody action film that caught the world by surprise and eventually spawned two punchy, stabby, shooty sequels sharing that same frenetic energy. The latest entry in the John Wick franchise, Parabellum, dethroned Avengers: Endgame three weeks after the Marvel vehicle hit theaters, smashed records, and fended off competing films. Parabellum pulled in a $93 million total at the box office, becoming the highest grossing entry in the franchise in a matter of days. Now that the franchise has proven profitable and critically well-received, the people behind the films can move forward with a John Wick 4. And they have. The third sequel in the highly successful franchise is confirmed to hit theaters on May 21, 2021.

John Wick followed the eponymous assassin as he sought revenge against the people who killed his dog. But the dog wasn’t just a dog. It was a goddamn puppy and Wick’s final gift from his dead wife.

John Wick Chapter 2 caught up with Wick after he’d killed all the fuckers who murdered his dog, proceeding to put the guy through hell again by blowing up his house and watching him come apart again.

Parabellum finds Wick on the run from a city teeming with assassins. The third film in this ever-expanding universe centers its themes around consequences and focuses its narrative around how Wick deals with his.

So yeah, we’re thinking he’s back. For good.

We know very little about the sequel but you can bet your sweet ass we’ll keep you updated as the news develops.
