According to, Marvel has cast The Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra as a new villain in the second season of the Marvel/Netflix show Luke Cage. Sciorra will play Rosalie Carbone, a mysterious criminal who joins Alfre Woodward’s Mariah Dillard and Theo Rossi’s Shades in their ongoing struggle to take down Luke Cage.

Following the events of the first season, Mariah Dillard and Shades Alvarez maintain a firm grip on Harlem. This time around, Luke Cage (Colter) faces the ever-thinning line between heroism and villainy, confronting Dillard and Alvarez in a struggle that will shake Harlem to its core. Again.

Former music journalist Cheo Hodari Coker will once again serve as showrunner, with Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory executive producing. Loeb, who has contributed to shows such as Smallville and Lost, expressed his excitement about Sciorra’s involvement, saying, “We couldn’t be happier to be working with such an incredible talent. This character is complex and layered and Annabella is the perfect actress to play her.”

There’s no word yet on the size and nature of the main characters’ roles. However, Misty Knight and Danny Rand (portrayed by Simone Missick and Finn Jones, respectively) have been confirmed to appear, as has franchise staple Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson).

Luke Cage season 2 will hit Netflix on June 22. Those seeking a more immediate Marvel fix can now catch the second season of Jessica Jones on Netflix.
