Comicbook.com reports that DC is relaunching Justice League, with the first issues hitting shelves in June. Acclaimed writer Scott Snyder will script the series while superstar artists Jorge Jimenez and Jim Cheung will provide the art.
DC Nation #0 and Justice League: No Justice will lay the groundwork for Snyder’s new series. Both titles will launch in May and will lead directly into the new title.
The new roster consists of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, John Stewart, The Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter. This new team features a mix of characters from the Justice League animated series and past continuities. The animated series was critically acclaimed upon its release in the early 2000s and remains a darling among fans.
Best known for his popular Batman run, Snyder has become something of a household name among comic fans. His collaborations with artist Greg Capullo have captured the attention of fans and critics alike, with Stuart Kelly of The Guardian calling their “Death of the Family” arc “genuinely spine-tingling and cerebrally satisfying.”
Jorge Jimenez and Jim Cheung both have extensive experience as comic artists, the former credited in many DC Rebirth titles and the latter known for his relationship with Marvel Comics.
A recent press release quoted Cheung, who said, “I am extremely honored, and happy, to be able to launch Justice League with Scott and Jorge. It has been many years since I’ve had the pleasure of working at DC, but when Scott first mentioned this opportunity, I knew I couldn’t say no.”
Justice League #1 will hit stands on June 6.
