According to, The Expanse may live to see its fourth season. The show’s recent cancellation threw its future into uncertainty, but a recent move by Amazon may allow Syfy’s critical darling to continue. The third season concludes on Syfy in early July.

Based on the bestselling, critically acclaimed book series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (both credited under the pen name James S. A. Corey), The Expanse chronicles a war between Earth and Mars 200 years in the future. There are seven books in the series to date, with two more planned for release in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The next installment, Tiamat’s Wrath, hits shelves this December.

The Expanse stars Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham, Frankie Adams, Dominique Tipper, and Shohreh Aghdashloo and airs every Wednesday at 9/8c.
