There’s been a handful of really promising indie horror games dropping trailers recently. From CBE Software’s Silent Hill-inspired Someday You’ll Return, to RedG Studios’ survival horror PS4 exclusive S.O.N — if you’re a gore-hound like us, there’s a lot coming down the pipeline to get your blood-soaked teeth into.
Well, we can now also add Storyline Team’s third-person action-horror Crying Is Not Enough to that grizzly list. The game’s been in development for the last five years by the two-man independent studio. You can check out the latest launch trailer below:
Story-wise, Crying Is Not Enough centres on 35 year-old, Jacob Helten, and his experiences after his wife’s serious injury in a car accident. A few weeks after the accident, his wife Claire’s health begins to improve but she unfortunately disappears mysteriously from the hospital before she is discharged. Later that evening, an unknown woman approaches Jacob and claims that she knows where his wife is and promises to help him. From then on, a dark journey begins to unfold, in a mysterious distant place, where Jacob will soon understand the gravity of his situation. Soon he will find himself untangled in a game full of hatred, fear and intrigue.
Mechanically, Crying Is Not Enough is a third-person survival horror game where players must face enemies using weapons and other survival mechanics. Players must also solve various puzzles in order to progress the story-rich horror experience. We’re not sure about you, but we’re getting serious Alan Wake and The Evil Within vibes, which can only be a good thing, right?
Crying Is Not Enough launches on the 8th of June on PC, with ports to Xbox One and PS4 scheduled for later in the year. Stay tuned, as we’ll be sure to let you know as more intel comes to light.
