Summer Chastant’s popular new web series, Rage Room, is a beast of a concept. Comprised of six short, sweet episodes, the show stars Chastant, Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon, Mad Men), and Sarah Lancaster (Everwood, Chuck). Chastant serves as showrunner while Charles Herman Wurmfeld directs. The show has been submitted for consideration at the 70th Emmy Awards, which take place on September 17, 2018.

Inspired by the “rage room” phenomenon taking over the country, Chastant’s series follows Darla, who uses money from her divorce to open up a rage room in which people can “vent” by destroying property with angry abandon.

I recently watched Rage Room in its entirety and loved it.

Rage Room is unflinchingly human and unabashedly funny, an irresistible combo that separates it from the mediocrity common among web shows. Chastant’s magnetic performance, sharp dialogue, and inspired premise lend themselves to a story that’s unique in its simplicity and astounding in its poignancy. Working from a script that highlights the humanity behind every new business venture, Chastant also communicates the messiness of human emotion through violent bouts of contained destruction that are as hilarious as they are heartbreaking. I loved every minute of this strange, fun, resonant show. Who knows? You might just be inspired to start up your own rage room.
