The Blue Bomber is set to return to action in Mega Man 11, and it may be sooner than you think: Capcom announced in a press release today that Mega Man’s 11th main series outing will be released on the 2nd of October of this year.
Mega Man 11 will be available to play on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and on PC.
The new release looks to follow the tradition of the Mega Man titles that came before, with the same progression of defeating Robot Masters and taking their powers, except this time it will come with a twist. Mega Man 11 introduces the “double gear” system, described by Capcom as a “unique new twist on the satisfying platforming action, offering options to enhance Mega Man’s speed and power on the fly”.
The game will allow you to use Speed and Power Gear power-ups, which allow for the slowing down of time, and a super-charged Mega Buster, respectively. Double Gear will allow players to activate these powers simultaneously in the instance of low health, which is intended to help out those who are about to die – a welcome addition considering how difficult the original Mega Man titles are considered by some.
For fans who just cannot wait until October, Capcom have released the Legacy Collection this month which includes all prior games in the series, as well as the upcoming X Legacy Collection in July to whet your appetite ahead of Mega Man 11.
