If you’re a devotee of Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito, then Ysbryd Games and developer Panstasz’s cosmic horror RPG, World Of Horror, should absolutely be on your blood-soaked radar.

Inspired by the acclaimed works of Junji Ito, the indie game is a retro black-and-white Apple Macintosh-style adventure RPG. In development since 2016, World Of Horror takes place in a rural seaside town where you must solve mysteries, battle monsters and unravel the horrors that have taken hold of the creepy Japanese town.

Here’s the rundown courtesy of the game’s official website:

The Old Gods are reawakening clawing their way back into the world that’s spiralling into mysterious madness. In a small, seaside town of Japan, the population’s sanity is dwindling and otherworldly, grotesque creatures terrorise those who call the place home. It’s the end of the world and the only solution is to confront the terror reigning over the apocalypse.

Mechanically, the game is described as a roguelite, with turn-based combat thrown into the mix, too. Important choices will also be peppered throughout the experience. As you progress, players build up a deck of event cards which offer different outcomes and can even unlock new mysteries and clues. Finally, there’ll be a myriad of branching paths, as well as five unique playable characters. If all that has got your blood pumping then you can check out the official announcement trailer below:

World Of Horror is slated for a release sometime in 2019, and is scheduled to launch on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. As we learn more, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
