According to a new report, Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has signed a contract with Amazon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will develop new streaming content for the media/retail behemoth which will then be distributed to more than 200 countries globally.
On the deal, Coker said, “Amazon is the future, and their bespoke, specific approach to building groundbreaking shows offers an amazing opportunity, one that I’m incredibly thankful for. I can’t think of a better place to launch the first shows developed under my Seattle-based Fighting 99th Entertainment banner and am excited for people to see what we have in store.”
Formerly a music journalist for Vibe magazine, Coker now works as a writer and executive producer for TV and film. Luke Cage, Southland, Ray Donovan, Almost Human, and NCIS: Los Angeles are among his most high-profile television projects; his film credits include the recently released Creed II, Lowriders, Notorious, and Straight Outta Compton.
