Are you ready to jack back into the Matrix?

That’s right, per a recent report from Variety, Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that a The Matrix 4 sequel is indeed in the works, with both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their iconic roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. Whoa!

The new announcement is in-line with rumours we reported on last month. In addition, the fourth installment to the legendary franchise will welcome back Lana Wachowski  — who co-wrote and co-directed the original trilogy with her sister — and she will return to both write and direct the newly announced follow-up, too.

Sources say that the script will also have some help from Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Further, Wachowski will also be producing with Grant Hill. Allegedly, production for the pic is set to begin at the top of 2020. One question is still up in the air, though: Will Laurence Fishburne be returning once again as Morpheus? It appears that only time will tell.

Even though the last two movies in the series — The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions — weren’t particularly highly regarded by fans or critics, we believe that there’s still plenty of source material to work with in the vast lore of the Wachowski’s iconic action franchise to craft something special.

But what say you? Will you be taking the red pill to find out how deep this rabbit hole goes? Or will you take the blue pill, and never watch a new The Matrix movie again? Let us know down below.
