“Helloooooo, nurse!”

Fans of beloved animated TV series, Animaniacs, rejoice! Not only is a reboot officially in the works, but the original voice cast is set to return, too. That’s right, voice actor Rob Paulsen (Pinky, Yakko Warner, Dr. Otto Scratchensniff) has confirmed that the original voice cast will be returning for the new episodes, which will include Tress MacNeille’s return as Dot, as well as Jess Harnell who will be back as Wakko. As you can imagine, this is great news for Animaniacs fans.

Here’s the official confirmation from Rob Paulsen himself:

“We cannot wait to work with Steven Spielberg and the entire Amblin and Warner Bros. teams to bring more sketches, catchphrases, songs and laughs from the Animaniacs to kids and adults everywhere,” said Craig Erwich, senior vp content at Hulu. “Now one of the most beloved, inventive and funny animated franchises in history, Animaniacs and its cast of witty characters can live on, on Hulu. This marks yet another big move for us as we continue our efforts to be the No. 1 streaming destination for premium animated content.”

For a kids cartoon show about anthropomorphic animals, it’s safe to say that the Animaniacs had a super cheeky sense of humour, with a dash of inappropriate adult humour thrown in for good measure. Most of the risky gags probably went flying straight over the heads of its child-centric audience, including yours truly. However, it’s always nice to see an iconic, beloved property like Animaniacs get resurrected for a modern audience. We just hope it nails the tone and humour of the original show, right?

The new episodes of Animaniacs are set to begin streaming on Hulu in 2020. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the usual place.
