Netflix‘s figure skating drama, Spinning Out, will not see a second season. According to Deadline, the decision to ax the month-old series came after Netflix evaluated its viewership and weighed those numbers against how much the show cost. The series joins fellow freshman drama Soundtrack on Netflix’s chopping block.
Spinning Out follows Kat Baker, a skilled competitive figure skater who suffers a fall that dashes her chances of competing further. Desperate to continue her career, she pairs up with Justin Davis and uses him to re-enter the competitive skating world.
Former competitive figure skater and Samantha Stratton created the series, which starred Crawl and The Maze Runner trilogy actress Kaya Scodelario, Evan Roderick, January Jones, and Willow Shields. Stratton also wrote two episodes of the Jack Bender-directed Mr. Mercedes series, one episode of State of Affairs, and served as a story editor on nine episodes of Agent X. Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, and Matt Schwartz served as executive producers.
