Way before Capcom’s hugely successful Resident Evil 2 remake released last year, a small-scale Italian indie outfit, Invader Studios, pledged to develop a tribute to the OG 1996 classic, Resident Evil. Said project was partly fan-funded, and over time eventually evolved into Daymare: 1998. For now, the game has only been available on PC. The good news? It’s coming to PS4 and Xbox One this April.
Though Daymare: 1998 wasn’t received too well by critics — the PC version scored a middling 62 on reviews aggregator Metacritic — there’s still a lot to love about its cheesy yet authentic take on the old-school survival horror genre. Combine this with a lower price-point (it’ll retail for only $29.99, or your regional equivalent) and you have a rather compelling mid-tier horror title on your hands. Feel free to check out the game’s new trailer below:
Daymare: 1998 is scheduled to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on 28 April. But tell us, will you be checking it out? Or will you be avoiding it like a deadly viral outbreak? Grab a torch and a pistol and head down to the comments section below.
