Nintendo just dropped a millennial-pleasing bombshell: that 1999’s Stars Wars Episode 1: Racer will get a re-release on the Nintendo Switch. A specific release date hasn’t been announced but with Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy hitting the console today, Star Wars fans should be able to keep themselves busy.
Racer puts players on a podracing track, where they can choose between 23 racers competing on 25 different tracks spread across eight planets. Several actors from The Phantom Menace lent their talents, with Jake Lloyd being the biggest name attached to the game. LucasArts released the title in May 1999, the same month The Phantom Menace hit theaters. The popular tie-in also graced the Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, Macintosh, and Microsoft Windows.
Its sequel, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer Revenge, hit the Playstation 2 in 2002.
