According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel and Disney have officially hired Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness to pen the script for Peyton Reed‘s forthcoming Ant-Man 3. Sources close to the outlet bring word that Loveness has begun writing the screenplay and that the deal closed soon after Hollywood shut down. There is, of course, no word on when it will hit theaters. With the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the entertainment industry, a production start date likely won’t be determined for quite some time.

Loveness started writing for Jimmy Kimmel Live! before working on the Oscars and the Emmys. He has also written comics for Marvel.

This isn’t the first time a writer involved with the show has lent talent to Marvel. In 2016, Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon helped write additional scenes for Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange. More recently, Michael Waldron stepped aboard Disney+’s Loki series as showrunner. Waldron has also written for Rick and Morty, his most recent credit being on the Season 4 episode, “The Old Man and the Seat.”

What do you think? Do you have hope for Ant-Man 3 or are you not pumped for Reed’s sequel? With that kind of talent involved, are you confident that Marvel can put together something special? Let us know and stay tuned for updates!
