While we wait patiently for the July 10th launch of Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise, Rising Star Games and developer Toybox Games have released a brand new trailer to help shed some light on the much anticipated Nintendo Switch exclusive. You can go ahead and check out the teaser down below.

Specifically, said trailer introduces the game’s rural small-town Louisiana setting of Le Carré, while also teasing a handful of bonkers mini-games like boating and bowling. Meanwhile, around the halfway point, the teaser shifts to a much darker tone, and begins to highlight the more psychological horror aspects of the series via creepy imagery, a roaring chainsaw, and red falling petals reminiscent of the murders from the first game.

If you haven’t had a chance to play 2010’s Deadly Premonition, make no mistake: it’s a very special game and one of my personal all-time favourites. Indeed, Swery 65’s survival horror opus is an open-world, narrative-driven adventure with B-movie charm, side-splitting humour and genuine heart by the bucketload.

While it may not be a technical marvel, it is an unforgettable experience with superb writing, ambition, and audio design. And it’s a great reminder of how innovative and imaginative small-scale studios have become. In other words, if every game henceforth had a fraction of the heart that Deadly Premonition possessed, I’m sure the industry would be a much, much better place.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 10th.
