They say good things come to those who wait and The Game Kitchen has delivered. Yes, the Spanish studio has just announced that its hard-as-nails 2D Metroidvania Blasphemous will be receiving a brand new update that will add a ton of fresh content to the game. The best thing? It’ll be totally free of charge. And it’s coming out soon, on 4th August for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
Specifically, this new The Stir Of Dawn update will include a much-requested fan feature: a New Game Plus mode. As you may’ve already guessed, this new mode offers players the opportunity to replay the game again with all of their weapon upgrades and items from their first run.
Interestingly, New Game Plus is not the only new content that will be included in the forthcoming update. Indeed, new bosses, new storylines, new areas, new warp points, new animations, updated voice acting and more, will be added into the overall mix as well. Pretty sweet, right?
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Blasphemous yet, I’d wholeheartedly recommend giving it a look. Not only is it one of the most eerily bleak and beautifully macabre 2D action-platformers I’ve played in recent memory, but it also has some of the most marvellously memorable boss designs to boot. Seriously, it’s one of my favourite games from last year. Go ahead and watch the latest trailer down below:
